Remo van Namen
Remo van Namen obtained bachelor degrees in electronics in The
Hague and physics in Delft, followed by more than 40 years'
experience in the oil & gas industry.
He started to work for Shell Research in 1977 where he worked on
applied instrumentation (surface and downhole) and was transferred
to Shell Expro Aberdeen, Scotland (UK) in 1987 as team leader in
the Brent field, responsible for field wide maintenance support. In
this role he became involved in the development of Reliability
Centered Maintenance for the whole of Shell Expro and its
application in the Brent field.
He subsequently moved to Damascus, Syria in 1996 to work as an
Operations Engineer for the Al Furat PC, a joined state oil/Shell
operated company.
In 2000 he retired from Shell and returned to the Netherlands
where he started to work as an independent consultant, working for
oil & gas companies like Shell Learning, SNEPCO Nigeria,
Kashagan project London. EMI Italy and Wintershall Libya, in the
area of course development, Asset (Value) Management, Maintenance
Management, RCM, International Project Management and Auditing.
After successful completion of a non-oil & gas related
Industrial Relocation Project for the European Space Agency
ESA/ESTEC, where he was the responsible project manager for the
decommissioning, relocation and commissioning of 75 laboratories to
a new building, he was recruited by Shell Learning in 2012 as a
Learning Instructor for their Production Development course and
their Maintenance Foundation course. This included module
development, online assessment of assignment submissions and
facilitation of local Closing-Out Workshops worldwide with case
studies and final exams.
